Through the epochs, listless ages
Fools selling keys to utopia,
I’ve smelled sulpher, felt inferno,
I want to see your utopia,
A kingdom built on a hill,
The tribes on the mountain range are heedless,
The heathen disappear in the night,
Conflagration dims the points of light wandering below
Through the epochs, endless ages,
Fools selling keys to utopia,
I’ve smelled sulpher, felt inferno,
I want to see your utopia
A kingdom built on a hill,
The tribes on the mountain range are heedless,
The heathen disappear in the night,
Conflagration dims the points of light wandering below.
Banishing fear, banishing pain, banishing death,
So that you may live forever,
Banishing lust, banishing will, banishing strength,
You think that you will live forever,
In times of trouble turn to worm eaten prophets,
Their strength has faded and their laws apply to a dead world,
Deny the universe and its moving bodies,
Or struggle in vain to make them conform to your delusion
Stoke a fire to blot out the sun, your fingers burn
Conjure a void to rival the new moon, you disappear
This is your life, watch as it rots on the vine
This is your life, chaos amidst the paradise.

An eclectic but incredibly well-integrated blend of traditional death metal, melodeath, black metal, progressive, and even a bit of folk (with the added bonus of audible and tasty bass guitar). The album has a consistent, pulverizing momentum punctuated by the rare acoustic passage or catchy chorus/refrain. Overall an unbelievably mature first offering from an up-and-coming band to watch. Heaviest thing I’ve heard all year along with Altarage. Okay I’ve been listening to this record for the past two weeks and it just gets better and better. Dissonant grooves galore Jacob Ballance
